summer scenes

have you had raspberry popovers? they make a tasty start to a day!

also tasty is a picnic of okra fritters, greek meatballs, and tomato-cucumber salad.
we nestled between the cedars one rather hot day and had a little feast.

tristan and tashi practiced nose rubbing

and then we headed to the little creek to cool off

such a great spot for water and sand play

this is my wee garden and potato patch

luna keeps guard

we checked out the earlysville parade on the 4th. antique cars, atvs, lots of candy,
and a confederate army re-enactment (!) were the themes.

Wishing you a fun long weekend and many joyous long days of summer!

along the moormans

we had a little picnic along the full moormans river today. it was a good respite.
tashi is leaving on friday to spend some time in the midwest with family,
so this was our special june moment!
when we pulled up an enormous blue heron flew off downstream.

there was much speculation about who might inhabit this cave.

everywhere we go, tristan brings a toy or three.  to the dinner table. on outings.
to the toilet. in the yard.

there were a few quiet moments, mostly when we could get tristan to stop singing
twisted versions of songs from les miserables, which he has been doing without stop
since tashi was in the play.

do you see the spirits?

 do you see the smiles?

vineyard bliss

we enjoyed a free concert at jefferson vineyards on sunday afternoon. we brought a picnic snack, sipped pinot gris, basked in sun, shade, ladybugs and relaxation. i am constantly astonished by the beauty and history that surrounds us in this magestic part of virginia.
